We
are Larime Taylor and Danielle Sylvie Taylor, the owner/creators of HOLLOW,
an original comic book series coming in October from Archaia Studios Press.
We are low-income, disabled artists, trying to make something of ourselves
in the publishing world. Our penciler, the enormously talented Duncan Eagleson,
has worked on such books as Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and we are very
blessed to have him. As an independent, creator-owned book, we are not receiving
page rates, but our penciler needs them in order to do the book in a timely
fashion - as it is he is giving us a very gracious discount on his usual rate
as he understands our situation and truly believes in the project.
We had planned to pay him with Danielle's royalties for texturing 3d models, but after months of leading us on, the arrangement wirh that company (not naming names) fell through and left us in a real bind. This is a company that has made over $24k on her work in the last 5 years, and now is discarding her without a care. The textures she created will still make money through other companies, but it will be months longer before we see it and our penciler is owed the rest of his money and solicitations are coming due at the end of the month. The project simply cannot survive beyond this month without help, and we cannot survive much longer in poverty without the project as a light to the way out.
We believe strongly in keeping our word to our artist, and not falling into the patterns of some less savory types in the industry that Unscrewed has brought to account. Simply put, we are not Rick Olney and we do not want to be. We are in a bind and we are coming forward in the spirit of honesty and humility to ask for help.
We are trying to raise at least $1900 in the next 30 days - the amount we owe on issue #1. Any additional funds will go to an advance for issue #2 as a sign of good faith to our very patient and very understanding penciler. These funds will NOT be used for personal reasons under any circumstances.
Our publisher is looking into helping us out on future issues, and as I said, there will be revenue streams coming in starting in August or so - this is a one-time deal and we will not need bailing out again.
We are offering a very limited run of signed, numbered prints of the issue #1 cover art (sans logo and credits) by Danielle in three sizes: 8-1/2x11, 11x17 and 16x24. We are not selling these, but giving them to those that donate. Any donation, no matter how small, will receive an 8-1/2x11 print numbered and signed by Danielle. Donations of $30 or more will receive an 11x17 sized print, instead. Donations of $100 or more will receive a very limited-edition 16x24 sized poster print (there will be no more than 20 of these made). In addition, those donating $50 or more will receive random prints of other paintings Danielle has done at 8-1/2x11 size - the more you donate, the more we'll send you.
Please, donate today.
